The Internacional Festival of Cinco de Mayo proved popular over the weekend, with acts from all over Mexico coming to perform.

The wide range of musicians attracted large crowds of all ages, with many commenting that they were surprised, but delighted, by the calibre of acts that are performing. On Sunday the 8th May, a typical Mexican orchestra performed in the afternoon sun, and in the evening the group Chéjere played in the zócalo.

Chéjere in particular drew a varying group, playing its older songs featuring Veracruz sounds, then also playing its more recent tracks which are said to be aimed at a younger audience.

The event was not merely this entertainment, however. In the zócalo especially there were many games for younger children, performances from local amateur artists, and even a zumba class.

The performances will continue next weekend, with performances from Moderatto, Carlos Arellano and Juan Solo to name a few.
