Throughout the period of la Fería de Puebla, the Municipal Palace conjoined with the BUAP is showing an exhibition of 57 sketches by the famous dutch artist Rembrandt van Rijn, in the hope of highlighting the extensive collection the university museum has in the José Maria Lafragua library.
For those with little knowledge of the 17th century artist, he is considered one of the best portrait painters in history- each portrait which he painted, either of himself, of a member of the upper class, or even of a begger in the street represented a challenge to him to reach a greater level of expression and reality in his work.
In the exhibition, three different themes are showcased: self-portraits, religious scenes and every day life scenes. In this way visitors are able to see for themselves the adaptability and talent of the artist, and the ways in which he innovates what are already iconic themes.
During its residence in the Gallery of the Municipal Palace workshops and conferences are also to be held alongside the exhibit.
