‘La Feria de Puebla’ continued its month-long period of celebration today in the zocalo of Puebla, reminding everyone why it is considered to be one of the best ‘ferias’ in Mexico. The event, which celebrates the founding of the city of Puebla 485 years ago, drew hundreds of people to the city’s main square.
The day catered for all ages and interests, with miniature golf and miniature football games for the younger attendees, whilst there were various art exhibitions and opportunities to learn more about the history of Puebla itself and how it was founded for the more eager minds.
Various stalls were also set up which ranged from those selling artesanal goods and food, to memorabilia t-shirts, to a few stalls which were advertising 5 kilometre walks around the historical centre- a particular hit for the numerous tourists.
The day was clearly a huge hit with all, and the large turnout shows the importance of the city to many, as one goer remarked, “It is important to celebrate our city and its history as it is such a huge part of our lives, and the history of Mexico.”
‘La Feria de Puebla’ is running everyday from the 8th April till 10th May, primarily in los Fuentes.
